This report seeks the approval of the Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Finance of the recommendations for the transfer, with a dowry, of Land at Fortey Road to Northleach with Eastington Town Council.

The Assets Manager introduced the report to the meeting and highlighted the decision to the Member.

 

The Cabinet Member explained had spoken to the Ward Member Councillor Tony Dale prior to the decision.

 

It was noted that this item was under discussion for quite some time with the Town Council.

 

It was highlighted that the land would continue to be an amenity woodland which was part of the agreement.

 

It was noted at Paragraph 3.4 by the Cabinet Member that the book value of the land is £61,000, and therefore this required a decision meeting rather than a delegated authority decision.

 

It was proposed that a payment would be made to the Town Council of £10,000 to support the estimated cost of 10 years maintenance.

 

It was noted that the original funding would be from the forecasted underspend in the 2022/23 ‘tree works’ ‘heritage and design’ revenue budget. It was explained that if the underspend had been taken back had been reallocated, the Council Priorities Fund be appropriate to use or top up the underspend as necessary.

 

It was noted that a small part of the land was being retained for future housing, but the vast bulk of the land as highlighted in red at Annex A would be transferred.

 

 

The Cabinet Member considered the recommendations of the officer and resolved to APPROVE the recommendation

 

Reason for Decision of the Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance

 

The Cabinet Member accepted the recommendation that this was an important local feature enjoyed by the residents of Northleach and visitors to the town, and that it was felt that the local community would be best to continue supporting the maintenance of this asset through the ownership of the Town Council

This report seeks the approval of the Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Finance of the recommendations to agree a roll forward of current arrangements until new arrangements commence, anticipated to be 1 April 2024.

The Deputy Leader invited the Community Partnership Officer to introduce the report.

 

It was noted that the proposal was to roll forward the funding to support the important work done by the organisations. This work being crucial during the Covid-19 Pandemic and the current cost of living pressures.

 

It was noted by approving the recommendations the current arrangements would remain in place, and allow for a new arrangement to begin on 1st April 2024.

 

The Cabinet Member noted that whilst the funding was not a relatively large sum it was important to support their work in the community. 

 

The Cabinet Member noted the amounts to the organisations in the report at Paragraph 3.6 of the report. 

 

 

The Cabinet Member considered the recommendations of the officer and resolved to APPROVE the recommendations.

 

 

Reason for Decision of the Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance

 

The Cabinet Member accepted the recommendations of the officer because of the vital work that these organisations do for residents in the District.
