Decision details

UK Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF) application October 2025

Decision Maker: Chief Executive Officer - Jane Portman

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

To consider recommendations from the Rural England Prosperity Fund Assessment Panel.

Decision:

The Chief Executive, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Economy and Council Transformation resolved to approve the recommendation of the Rural England Prosperity Fund Assessment Panel and awarded funding to a project in the district (see Annex 1).

Reasons for the decision:

One of the approved projects—an active travel scheme promoted by Somerford Keynes Parish Council, to which funding of £25,000 had been allocated—was withdrawn, as it was no longer considered deliverable within the required timescale. The funding therefore needed to be reallocated to another project to enable the Council to utilise the Rural England Prosperity Funding allocated by Government and to deliver the outputs and outcomes set out in the REPF Local Investment Plan addendum.

Alternative options considered:

Consideration was given to the option of not approving the panel’s recommendation; however, this was dismissed as it would have risked underspending the allocated funds and failing to achieve the outputs and outcomes expected of the Council.
